Guys, I just left Home Keep Me Broke and noticed that all the landscape material had gone up, as well as the Pre Emergent weed control, and Fertilizers. I especially noticed that Scotts 15000 sq ft bag was 40 bucks. I saw the Lesco 0-0-7 was still around 15 bucks for the 15000 sq ft bag.
Early in year is better--beat the rush. CLC Laboratories is also good--Lesco uses CLC. Either case, you will get details like the cation exchange capacity, base ratio, maybe organic matter, and the amount of lime needed to correct any acid soil. Metal probes are poor for soil acidity--and worthless for phos and potash.

Scotts is done under an entirely different process. It is cooked, blended, and dried all together, then ground so every granule is the exact same as every other one. There is no coatings, there is no slow release of ANY percent. It is just not the same type of balanced feeding that you get with a professional fertilizer.

That is mainly beacuase of the iron. Scott's may green up the grass somewhat because of its N, but doesn't compare to Lesco with 50% slow release (what I am using is 24-0-11 2% with 50% SCU). I agree, gotta love that iron for those nice green lawns. My favorite flavor of fertilizer is Lescos 32-3-8 2%Fe 30% SCU.
