Hey everyone, i just got a sr20det blacktop with 70k from my friend's 180sx, i plan to tune it up around 250-280hp rev 8000rpm and daily driven, as far as i think the engines still new and im just gonna build the head and go with turbo i would go with brian crower 272/272 cam brian crower valve springs and containers 850cc injector
The SR20det redtop engine was first built in 1989 on Nissan's Bluebird 2000SSS Attesa Limited. It is made by Nissan Motor Company of Japan. Also, it is manufactured in Australia and European factories except for Japan. On the other hand, the first blacktop engine was made by Nissan in 1994 without VCT and since then, it has been made with VCT.

The last generation Black Top SR20DET arrived in 1999+ model S15s. This Black Top SR20DET variant is the most advanced and modernized variant in the SR20 lineup. The valve covers are different colors (obviously) and the blacktop is a newer engine (96-98 I think) where a redtop was produced from 91-93. The S14 blacktop has 20 more HP. It has VVT, a different turbo (T-28) and low-port rather then high-port intake design. The second gen of the S14's came with T28 BB turbos.

SR20DET Red top is 205 HP at 6,000 RPM, torque 274 m at 4,000 RPM. This engine was used for Nissan Bluebird and Nissan 180SX (Silvia S13). SR20DET Red top is a more powerful version, produced since 1990 to 1994. Compression ratio is abated to 8.3. Also it uses Garrett T28 (TB2804) turbocharger, boost pressure has increased to 10.5 psi (0.72 bar).
